Four phones on a mint background: a game session with Athena's Top 9 clips, a clip viewer, the remix format editor, and a streamer's community feed.

SumUp AI Promotions

Pre-launch

I'm designing AI that writes loyalty promotions for small-business owners, and says how sure it is.

It hasn't shipped yet, so the details stay off the site for now. I'm happy to walk you through it in person.

Athenascope

Intro

Athenascope used AI to find the best moments in a streamer’s gameplay and turn them into clips. Its streamers were small and mid-size creators, and 96% of them had full-time jobs. Growing on Twitch takes a steady flow of content (it takes around 500 regular viewers to earn $3,000+), and they didn’t have the time or resources to keep up.

Research

I joined as the first internal designer. A PM had designed most of the pre-beta app, so I started with a UX audit, stakeholder interviews and a review of user feedback. Then I went where streamers live: Discord deep dives, contextual inquiry on Twitch, and interviews with high- and low-follower streamers. I built the design system in a single sprint so the team could move fast, then focused on three areas.

Onboarding

I made communities clearer for streamers and their friends, and used Twitch data to route each person to the right place.

Community

Each community got its own closed feed, plus an MVP chat.

Clip review

A new “My content” tab and a game-session summary, both built on the AI’s rating of each moment.

Focus

A paid remix showcase on stream was on the table. I shelved it so the app would first help streamers grow their communities.

Impact

Onboarding, community feeds and clip review shipped on iOS and Android. Two-week streamer retention after download rose from 54% to 75%, with more followers onboarding and more remixes. Roblox acquired Athenascope.
